Her novel, inspired by Shakespeares life, focuses on his wife Agnes and their son Hamnets tragic death. Mescal, discovered at Dublins Gate Theatre, was cast as Shakespeare, while Jessie Buckley portrays Agnes. OFarrell conducted extensive research, learning to fly a kestrel, baking bread, and studying Elizabethan medicine. Collaborating with director Chloé Zhao, they adapted the novel into a film, earning six Golden Globe nominations. Hamnet premieres in UK cinemas on January ninth.
