Meet the Mingos!
Description
If you live downtown, you might have heard cheers erupting from Breese Stevens Field on the occasional weekend night. That might be due to the incredible community that’s been built by Forward Madison FC, Madison’s own professional soccer club.
Adopting as a mascot of a flamingo, Madison’s official bird, Forward Madison FC describes itself as an “an extension of the shared belief of Madisonians that community is built brick by brick and day by day with inclusion, transparency, and a communal desire to provide the best quality of life for all.”
The team played its inaugural season in 2019 and its games at Breese Stevens Field have since become a staple of downtown Madison life, drawing an average of more than 4,000 fans a game to the historic stadium on East Washington Avenue.
Today on the show, we’re joined by three staff members from the Forward Madison Flamingos as they enter their fifth season.
Meet the guests:
Zane Heinselman is Forward Madison FC’s General Manager and Vice President. He comes to Madison after spending the past nine years with the Saint Paul Saints, the AAA minor league baseball affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
Jovan Chavez is Forward Madison FC’s Latino Outreach Manager & Senior Ticket Sales Representative.
Keith Tiemeyer is Forward Madison FC’s Director of Soccer Operations and Development. Previously, he worked as Assistant Coach with the UW-Madison men’s soccer team, and was honored as one of the top assistant coaches in the nation.
