Few realize how common they are, or the fact that there's a large chance someone they know personally has had one, mainly because of how hush-hush the topic is. The loudest voices are from those who are protesting the right to an abortion, and the softest voices are from those who have had one. The reality is that it's scary to discuss and openly admit because being judged, losing loved ones, or even being criminalized is a very real consequence.
