Description

More than a thousand people have been killed in floods and landslides across Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Rescue efforts are taking place in some of the most difficult conditions, with hundreds still missing. The death toll in Indonesia alone has gone past 600 and nearly as many are missing. The military has been deployed to some of the worst hit areas to join rescue efforts. Al Jazeera’s Jessica Washington reports from North Tapanuli, in the North Sumatra province, Indonesia.
