Musical comedy Gloria! has kicked off the Italian Film Festival in Sydney, with plenty of films on offer ahead of the festival's openings across the country.

Following a maid at a Venetian refuge, Gloria! shows how hidden musical talents helps female friends to band together and uprise their oppressive priest.
