This marks the Wolfpacks second consecutive bowl game against an American Athletic Conference team. Head coach Dave Doeren, in his eleventh bowl appearance in thirteen seasons, will face off against Memphis Tigers, led by new head coach Charles Huff. N.C. State, despite a roller coaster season, ended strong with three wins in their last four games. Memphis, with eight wins and four losses, lost their last three games, including one to East Carolina, a team N.C. State previously defeated.
