Psalm 111:4

“God’s wonderful works are to be remembered. He is gracious and full of compassion.”

When I set my mind to remember something, I frequently forget what it was I had set my mind to remember! Before you laugh, think of the times you may have been guilty of the same thing. I find that I am like the man who said he certainly believed in the “hereafter” because everywhere he went he asked; “What am I here after?”

In order to overcome this difficulty, I have taken to write notes to myself so I will not forget what I intended to recall. The problem with this strategy is that even my notes get misplaced or shuffled and so I still spend time, “searching for the lost!”

The one thing I never want to forget is God’s Word. My memory bank seems to be better at forgetting than remembering, but that does not keep me from reading and re-reading God’s precious Word.

God’s works are detailed in His Word and my delight is in discovering that in spite of my many failures, the Lord loves me with an eternal love. His love for each of us is not because we deserve it, but because we need it so desperately!
