In chapter 3, Paul listed the qualifications of a pastor—the kind of man he must be to serve. But in chapter 4, Paul shifts from qualifications to preoccupations—the things a pastor must continually give himself to once he’s in the role.
Big Idea: The pastor’s focus must remain on self, the saints, and salvation.
- Self: Cultivate Your Character (12, 15-16a)
- Saints: Proclaim the Word to the Church (11, 13-14, 16a)
- Salvation: Keep the Goal in View (16b)
