Description

Rossi's enjoying a well earned break, but Hinch and Thim recap Road America, and talk about where the season stands, now. Then, author (and brother of Hinch), Christopher Hinchcliffe joins the show to talk about the application of rules in F1, and dives in a discussion about what the role of the stewards should be, and how rules should be applied. We dive into the weeds a bit on this one, so we hope the real racing fans will enjoy it!

The Philosophy episode was one of the best yet, demonstrating the depth of thought to which the Hinches are capable. I found it fascinating. It does raise a question in my mind. In the past some drivers have become winners without bringing a lot of intelectual ability to the task. The question then is: Can a driver overthink the sport or are they best to just react instinctively so long as smart people on the team support them? Another train of thought that was brought to mind is: What is the ultimate purpose of indycar racing or any motorsport for that matter. As an amateur track driver I believe that all drivers and most team members would do this even if there were no fans present. They possibly couldn't afford to do it but they would want to. Doesn't that mean thet the purpose of motorsport is to entertain, not only the drivers and team people, but also the fans and sponsors? Discuss.
