Portland Schools' High School Reassignment Plans
Update: 2025-12-10
Description
Portland Public Schools unveils three plans to reassign high school students, aiming for at least one thousand one hundred students at Jefferson, Grant, McDaniel, and Roosevelt high schools by the two thousand thirty to two thousand thirty-one school year. Scenario A lost favor due to significantly reducing Roosevelts enrollment. Scenario B gained traction, keeping students from Harriet Tubman Middle School together and helping Jefferson reach full enrollment. Superintendent Doctor Kimberlee Armstrong recommended Scenario C, which was popular in community surveys and aims to have most students attend their closest high school. However, some parents from the Irvington neighborhood propose their own Scenario F, suggesting both Irvington and Sabin elementary schools continue to feed into Grant.
