Professors Terry Carter, Scott Duvall, and Daniel Hays walk you through the steps of the "interpretive journey" from the biblical text to contemporary application.
Carter, Duvall, and Hays also show listeners how to understand their audience, develop powerful applications, use illustrations well, and deliver sermons effectively. The concluding lectures discuss unique preaching challenges presented by various biblical genres, providing interpretive keys, things to avoid, and numerous examples.
Preaching God's Word: Audio Lectures is designed to help preachers and homiletics students - whether they are participating in traditional, distance, or online learning courses - develop and deliver biblically based expository sermons relevant for the 21st century.

Great Book for Anyone.
I am currently using this book for my preaching class at my local Bible University. If you think of becoming a preacher, this book is for you. But not only preachers, anyone can own this book. If you want to know how your Pastor exegetes his or her passages, you can learn how to do it also. For yourself you can benefit on how to read with the right set of eyes into Scripture with the right context, which is very important. Context, context, and context is very important when interpreting God's Word. I recommend you do your own Study and not just depend on a Sunday's message.
Very applicable and an easy read
Should be read by every preacher to better understand what is most beneficial for their listeners
Four Stars
Great read and insanely helpful for leading a bible study.
Helpful lessons
Very helpful detailed steps to critically examine and conduct an accurate exegesis. For the beginner exegete, being able to write the text thesis for a passage, for example, followed by a text outline, and the sermon/teaching thesis and its outline principles for today is of great value for the individual, professional, and all that seek to know better what God has revealed.
Great resource
Excellent resource for the student or longtime pastor (I'm an new pastor). It's a simple, yet thorough book covering all grounds for preaching, sermon research, and approach to the audience. Great examples are included in this book for a sermon outline on each genre of the Bible. Should be paired with Grasping God's Word (another of the books in this series). I turely enjoy this book.
