The prodigal son is famous for excess. Loose living. Wasteful spending. Yet when the young man comes to his senses, the prodigal God welcomes him home. God’s excess? His extreme, wildly generous, over-the-top mercy.
This is the mercy God gives us. This is the mercy we are called to share. Listen as we reflect on the blessing at the center of Jesus’ nine beatitudes:
