KEY TAKEAWAYS
What benefits are there of Psy-TaP over traditional treatments?
- The NHS treatment pathway is usually medication, counselling and CBT
- Medication is a holding point, it does not cure you, Counselling and CBT have been around for a long time but are not that effective.
- Counselling is often 3 days of pain;
- The day before is worrying about the counselling session.
- The session can be painful as it often involves revisiting events that caused anxiety and stress.
- The day after the session can also be painful because of the previous 2 days of pain.
- Psy-TaP is a very different method that alters the neuro pathways - the wiring inside the brain.
- It’s not hypnosis, it’s not NLP it’s something very different.
- We don’t put a sticking plaster over things, we don’t sidestep from things, we actually deal with the root of the trauma.
- We separate the emotions from the trauma because it’s your emotions that drive your responses.
- It’s about getting in there, putting it right and then the person being able to get on with their life.
