The Harp of the Holy Spirit: Ephraim the Syriac In this prophecy update, we examine the teachings of a powerful figure from the early church: Ephraim the Syriac (also known as Ephraim of Nisibis), a 4th-century deacon, teacher, and hymn-writer. Revered by the church as the “Harp of the Holy Spirit,” his theological works, preserved in the ancient Syriac Aramaic dialect, are providing vital insight. Specifically, we review a sermon, On the Last Times, the Antichrist, and the End of the World, recently made accessible through modern translations.



Evidence for the Pre-Tribulation Rapture in Early Christianity Drawing on research from Dr. Lee Brainard, we highlight a significant prophetic statement from Ephraim’s sermon: “For all the saints and Elect of God are gathered, prior to the tribulation that is to come, and are taken to the Lord.” This ancient text presents compelling evidence that the pre-tribulation rapture view—that Jesus will resurrect and rapture His Church before the Great Tribulation—was held by some believers centuries ago. It reaffirms our belief in the imminency of Christ’s return—it could happen right now!
