Push to Axe Landlines in California

Hundreds of thousands of rural Californians rely on landlines for emergencies. AT&T is the largest copper landline provider in the state, known as the state’s last-resort phone service, and is pushing to retire these landlines nationwide. Yue Stella Yu is a politics reporter with CalMatters and traveled to the North Coast to get a better idea of who might be hurt if these landlines are taken away.

CalMatters is a nonprofit newsroom that partners with public media stations across the state.

Audiology Program Celebrates Milestones

For the past several years, a Sac State department has been helping community members regain their ability to hear or improve their communication through screenings, speech and language pathology, and hearing device activations. The audiology clinic at the Maryjane Rees Language, Speech and Hearing Center operates fee-free for community members, and provides students with hands-on experience. Department Chair Heather Thompson, Program Director Laura Gaeta and Dr. Ariel Cassar join Insight to talk about the program’s life-changing work.

CapRadio's broadcast licenses are owned by Sac State. The university also oversees our finances and approves our expenses. It does not oversee our news production or programming.

ReCreate and ‘The Secret Life of Leaves’

It’s fall in Northern California, and the leaves have started their annual showcase of colors. A new exhibit in Rocklin is paying tribute to the lifecycle of leaves. We’ll learn more about The Secret Life of Leaves from Madeline Huttie, Education Program Coordinator and Specialist at ReCreate, which is hosting the mini museum adventure.
