Description

Back in March of 2008, 30-year-old Rachel Conger had recently split up with her husband, Paul. Rachel and her daughter, Amber, moved to a new home in Como, TN. Rachel borrowed a truck from a friend so she could move some furniture to her new place. On the evening of March 12, 2008, Rachel told her daughter that Paul was coming to stay the night. She said he was off his medication and not acting right. Rachel told Amber that she was trying to keep him calm. She warned her daughter that if anything happened, for her to climb out the window and call for help. Rachel’s daughter went to bed that night and when she woke up the following morning, her mom and Paul were gone.

If you have any information about the disappearance of Rachel Conger, you are urged to call the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 731-642-1672.

You can follow Rachel's case on Facebook at Bring Rachel Home.

I have misgivings about there possibly being abandoned wells on that property mentioned. Though I have faith in search dogs to have found something by now, if the wells were part of her disappearance. And I think this man was "crazy like a fox", his abusive behavior and his good behavior were both very calculated. I think he planned Rachel's murder and disappearance. I think whatever happened was premeditated but if he did not commit suicide first he may have been able to convince law enforcement that it was 2nd degree or manslaughter.

He may well have had bipolar but I am skeptical that it, in and of itself, in any way explains his calculated abuse of his female family members and animals. It certainly does not explain his exploitation of his wife and her earnings. He is just good at being an abuser. In his case he has a mental illness to hide behind. And how bad that is for other people with mental illnesses who are affected by stigma and stereotypes.
