Description

"We are not going to talk about diversity for the rest of our lives. Eventually this has to stick - it has to become embedded in the institutions"

Our first episode in English! – This Time, Selma and Sarah met with Prof. Gökçe Yurdakul, professor at the Department of Diversity and Social Conflict (Department of Social Sciences, Humboldt University). Prof. Yurdakul does research on migration and citizenship and has written several books, one of them concerning the headscarf debate. We talked about the general topic of migrant women in leadership positions which is significant for talking about intersectionality. Part of the conversation were also different feminisms, diversity at the work place and the importance of role models. Two role models Prof. Yurdakul mentioned and who we recommend following on social media are Kübra Gümüşay (author of “Sprache und Sein”) and Sawsan Chebli (SPD politician). We hope you enjoy this episode!
