Description

In the first episode of Red Lens Podcast, I interview Phil Ward. Phil is a Twin Cities-based photographer, and he is a co-founder of Move for Justice News. We talk about his movement photography, abandoned building photography & punk concert photography. We share stories and reflections from countless days in the streets dodging police tear gas & projectiles while documenting the powerful movement against police brutality that rocked the Twin Cities & the whole country after the police murdered George Floyd two years ago today, on May 25, 2020.

Follow Phil's photography online at his website and on Instagram.

NOTE: This episode was originally published on May 25, 2022. It was reposted April 6, 2025 to replace a music clip that Spotify claimed was copyrighted, but other than that the content of the episode has not changed. The new intro/outro song for this episode is ‘Zapatista garage punk instrumental’ by Joshua Hudes. You can find it here.
