Janet: Hello and welcome, it’s Janet Beckers here and welcome to Rising Stars Radio. This is where we feature people who actually take action in our Community and I find these people the most inspiring of everybody who I get to have contact with because people who are building their businesses, for me, are the ones who are taking the first steps and taking action just have incredible courage and just that lovely moving forward which I know inspires a lot of people and a great person to be able to share with you today is Linky Muller who has been a part of our community for quite a while and I’d love to be able to introduce her to you and to just see the kind of consistent action that Linky demonstrates. So it’s wonderful to welcome you here Linky.
Linky: Hi, thank you Janet. It’s lovely to be here.
Janet: It’s wonderful. Now, to share with people here; so people can get to know who you are, would you mind sharing who it is that you help and how do you do that?
Linky: Yes, by all means. I am a musician and I love helping musicians to get over their fear of the stage and all the results that they’ve had before and become the musicians that they’d really love to be.
Janet: Okay, so when you work with people, do they then have a greater confidence, I suppose; to be able to put themselves out there and get professional gigs? Would many of them end up being professional musicians?
Linky: Yes, I actually work with professional musicians most of all to get them over all the fears that they’ve created along the years to build the position on stage that they really want to have. You know the character and the charisma that they really want on stage.
Janet: That’s a big one.
Linky: Yeah, very often the musicians sit there and they play their instrument and they sort of feel as if they don’t have connection with the audience and they just get criticised from the audience so that’s why I get them over that fear.
Janet: Oh look that’s brilliant and I can tell you as somebody who is an amateur singer, I have been having singing lessons for the last year, and I must say that my big aspiration is not to be the solo singer up there on stage because that idea just terrifies me because my voice is not good enough but to be the backup singer and so yeah, I can certainly understand but that’s even to be the backup singer at this moment would be absolutely terrifying. So I can certainly relate to the kind of help that you would be giving people to just get that confidence to get out there. So, that’s great. Well I hope that there are quite a few people out there who are listening who can really relate to that and actually, tell us your website so that people who would like to connect with you, how would they do that?
Linky: Oh, they can connect with me at LinkyMuller.com or MyHarpLink.com.
Janet: MyHarpLink – I’ve actually seen Linky play the harp; it’s just beautiful. Okay, so we’ll also put those links down below here, if you’re seeing this on our website, you’ll be able to get those links. So let’s just dive into the purpose of Rising Stars Interviews is to share with people about what you’ve learned and simple action steps that you’ve taken that’s moving you closer to be able to build the business that you’re creating so that people when they’re listening can then go ‘right, okay, just those little steps and this is what ends up with the result’. So would you mind first of all sharing? You’ve done a few of our programs, you’ve been part of our Community for a while; what programs have you invested in through the Wonderful Web Group?
Linky: Well, I’ve been one of your Gold Members and I’m actually not even sure when that started but I think it was round about 2010 and then when that became the Shine Online and everything, I joined Shine Online and I’ve done the Wonderful Web TV thing and the 90 Day Grow Your Business I think it’s called.
Janet: Yes, the Romance Your Tribe.
Linky: Right, yes, the Romance Your Tribe and whatever you can think up Janet, that’s what I’ve done.
Janet: (laughs) I love to hear that! And so, through the process of a lot of learning to do through that process, so can you just share just a couple of the things that you learned and then that you were then able to implement so that we can see the results of actually taking action?
Linky: Yes, absolutely. I think the main thing for me was to learn all the techy stuff and that it’s not actually so hard to create your own website and you don’t have to spend a fortune on creating the website; it’s actually much better to create the website and everything with the people who can show you how to do that and join the program to give you the information and the structure around that and so on and that actually then has a ripple effect on the whole system so that your business and your foundation is strong enough so your business can just flourish from there.
Janet: Okay, and so you’ve applied quite a few technical things haven’t you? So do you make your own websites from learning all that techy stuff?
Linky: Yes, I’ve made at least the two that I’ve spoken to you now and I’ve done two for the church and I’ve done quite a few other websites just to get other people on the road as well.
Janet: That’s great. Good on you. And so, what other things have you done? It sounds as if mastering the techy stuff has been quite liberating for you.
Linky: Yeah definitely, because it doesn’t matter what you do, there’s always something else that you need to learn. You can’t just have a site selling a book or something; you have to actually know about copywriting and then you have to learn how to get PayPal stuck into there and so on. Connecting all those little plugins and so on takes a lot of time but that was my currency at that stage. I just left a business that I was very busy with before that and so I had time on my hands and not a lot of money, so doing it myself was my solution to that.
Janet: Yeah. I like how you said that was your currency, that’s great. That’s a really good way of putting it. And so other things you’ve done, I know that I’ve seen – because you’ve gone through MeTV and you’ve been one of the lovely people who have really taken action and created your own TV show too haven’t you?
Linky: Yeah, that’s right; I did create quite a few episodes with the MeTV situation giving people tips on stage fright and helping them to get over the basics of stage fright so that they can just move forward and be who they want to be; be the musicians that they really want to be and so on. And then I got invited, because of that, to South Africa to go and do a workshop there.
Janet: Oh great!
Linky: Yeah, and that was quite a challenge for me initially because the people who invited me were from the University that I studied with initially, so when I walked into the room to do the workshop, I had quite a few of my professors sitting there.
Janet: Wow.
Linky: And so on and that is actually as a result of the MeTV thing because one of my professors saw that and he subscribed to that and so that is how that came to be.
Janet: Ah, that’s great. So it ended up flipping things around; so instead of you being the student and them the teacher, it was flipping it around and you were going there to run a workshop and teach them.
Linky: That’s right. And then at that stage I thought they would like to have information on how to help their students and then within the first five minutes, I realised that no, they are there for themselves.
Janet: Ah, there you go! That’s fanta
