Russell Scott School's Fresh Start: New Eco-Friendly Building
Update: 2026-01-06
Description
Russell Scott Primary School in Denton is set to receive a much-needed makeover. The current dilapidated building, riddled with issues such as leaks, flooding, and fire safety concerns, will be demolished and replaced with a modern, eco-friendly facility. This comes after years of struggles due to poor construction that rendered sports areas unusable and classrooms unsafe for its 472 pupils. The new school, to be built by Tilbury Douglas and the Department for Education, will feature classrooms, a nursery, special needs unit, assembly hall, kitchen, rooftop solar panels, and a green roof. It will also include a football pitch and a multi-use games area, all designed with direct outdoor access for every classroom. The new school will be built adjacent to the old one, allowing for a smooth transition once completed.
