Ruth Fremson has been a photojournalist for over 34 years and has covered a wide range of events, including the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center, the 2002 Olympics in Utah, the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti and the infamous 2022 Oscars ceremony. From 1994 to 2005 she covered conflicts in Haiti, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Israel and the Palestinian territories. From 2005 through 2011 sheI made repeated trips to India, documenting the rapidly changing country. Ruth is a three-time Pulitzer Prize winner who has also earned awards from the White House News Photographers’ Association and NPPA, among others. Her work has been exhibited multiple times and can be found in numerous books. In 2015, Ruth transferred to Seattle—where she lives with her husband John and their cats, Sprinkles and Birdie — and covers the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and other national stories.
