“I Can Teach You How To Cut Hair, But I Certainly Cannot Teach You Passion “
After originally attending college to become a Criminal Justice major then changing course to Communications, Tzigane, Owner of Layla. A Social Salon, had another change of heart. But this time for her true passion.
After landing a job with a mentor who happened to own a salon she developed a love and passion for the salon and it’s stylists.
While on a trip to London with one of the stylists, she called her mom and said “I want to go to hair school”.
As Tzigane returned she would learn that her mother had already enrolled her into hair school and had her full support.
She ended up working and frequenting salons that would tend to be “packed’ and “busy” but she decided that she would focus on quality over quantity.
Driven by acquiring new skills and knowledge she decided that she would not be the stylist that has been doing the same thing for 25 years.
She now studies the latest trends and requires that her staff be up to date with what is trending as well so that they can offer as many styles as possible. Being able to fulfill the requests of ALL clients.
Outside of the Salon she has made it a priority to give back to her community.
Tzigane does admit that she may not have always been on the best path but is truly grateful for her opportunities now to give back to the community that she so loves.
In addition to agreeing to shave her head to raise money for childhood cancer through St. Baldrick’s Foundation she has also offered free haircuts to the Women at The Shade Tree and now to the members of Freedom House Sober Living.
While they take their hair styling seriously, the crew at Layla. A Social Salon knows how to let loose as well!
