Chapel Recap: Where God Guides, He Provides

Today in chapel, SGA Chaplain Ethan Foster continued his Genesis series with a message titled “God’s Glory Going Global.” Drawing from Genesis 12, Ethan explored God’s call to Abram, Abram’s obedience, and God’s faithfulness.

Foster began by diving into Genesis 12:1–3, where God calls Abram to leave his country and go to a land He would show him. God establishes the Abrahamic Covenant in these verses, which includes four key promises: a people, a land, a nation, and a blessing. Through these promises, Foster explained, God revealed His plan to bless the whole world through Abram’s faith and obedience.

Next, in verses 4–9, Foster highlighted Abram’s immediate response: obedience. “God was guiding Abram by faith,” he said. Abram didn’t know where he was going, but he trusted the One who was leading him. This kind of faith — trusting God even when the path is unclear — is what glorifies God most. “God calls His people to go even where they don’t know,” Ethan reminded the audience, “because where God guides, He provides.”

The final section, verses 10–20, reveals God’s faithfulness. Even when Abram had immense fear in Egypt, God remained true to His promises, blessing Abram and protecting him from Pharaoh’s power. Ethan emphasized that “what God has promised to us, He will do.” God’s covenant faithfulness does not depend on human perfection but on His unchanging character.

From Abram’s story, Ethan drew a clear application for believers today: God calls His people to faith and dependence that glorify Him. We are invited to trust His guidance and seek His direction through His Word and prayer. Faith that glorifies God is faith that clings to Him even when we can’t see the outcome.

“Where God guides, He provides,” Ethan repeated in closing. God’s call may lead us into the unknown, but His faithfulness guarantees we’ll never walk alone.
