I remember when this happened still. I went through Utah with my dad around this time and saw her fliers. Such an amazing woman she has turned into after such a horrible event.
I live in Utah and remember my mom calling me from work to say they found Elizabeth. She worked at the city building where the police brought her. I can't believe all she has overcome.
im not lying when i say every second of it gave me goosebumps
Okay hearing Elizabeth speak at the end brought me to tears. She's incredible.
Holy shit I can't believe the cops were allowed to do that to the suspect. That's how you get coerced confessions and it's legal?? Scary AF. Our justice system is so messed up.
Wanda Barzee and Brian David Mitchell should have been put to death. They are not human. They are garbage and should be treated as such.
So heart wrenching to hear. This poor girl has become an amazing woman and survivor. It's so terrifying that there are people still out there who prey on children. It's disgusting.
This is my first listen to this podcast and it was really well done, definitely subscribing for more. I live in the city Elizabeth was found and remember watching it live on the news when she was found, and remember standing in front of the TV with my friends all named Brian, David, and Mitchell, so it was really freaky hearing the name of the kidnapper.
Thank you for this episode and Elizabeth for her comments at the end. She is making a difference. 💜
Thank you for this episode. Thank you for your compassion. Thank you to Elizabeth Smart for her words. When you asked me to stop what I was doing and turn up my volume, I did. By the end I was sobbing. It's been almost 22 years. But it still hurts. I've always told myself I wasn't a real victim because what happened to me wasn't violent. I let things go too far so it was my own fault. But no means no. No 3 times. Disassociation. My virginity was stolen along with my innocence. Ladies, even if it's not violent, it is still rape. Ms. Smart is incredible for what she does. ♡
