A Chicago native, the young and fearless Britt Matt charged the walls of Hollywood at an early age determined to become a writer for television. Britt had a love for the arts and knew at an early age she was no actress, but maybe becoming a journalist or a writer would work out for her.

While she was in high school, the door of opportunity swung open for her when she took matters into her own hands, calling several LA studios and asking to speak to their writers in hopes of landing her first job. It worked!

This is the story of how Britt made her dream a reality and the journey she took to get there. She shares her highs and her lows and they have led her to where she is today, a co-showrunner and executive producer on one of Hollywood’s hit series.

Britt Matt was born and raised in Chicago and earned her Masters of Fine Arts from NYU’s Tisch School of Arts where she studied film, stage and television writing. Prior to jumping into the world of scripted comedy, Britt worked as a producer in non-fiction and reality television where she garnered two Daytime Emmy Nominations. Britt is an alumni of the NBC Writers on the Verge program, and has written on hit comedies such as MARLON (NBC), A.P. BIO (NBC), FIRST WIVES CLUB (BET+), and is currently Executive Producer/Co-Showrunner on HARLEM (AMAZON).
