In this episode Joy Caffrey, Christi Daniels visit with Sunshine Broder.  Wendy Love Edge was on hiatus for this episode.

Sunshine is an on-air personality, emcee, and storyteller with more than five years of experience in the industry. You may know her from That’s What She Said, NWA Fashion Week, recognize her voice from Sunshine after Dark, or many other events she can be found hosting around Northwest Arkansas.

Sunshine’s “day-job” is a hairstylist and salon owner. She has owned Shine Salon on the south side of Fayetteville for 15 years.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas with a BA in Drama, Sunshine moved to Chicago to train at the world-famous Second City Improv Theatre. There, she graduated from the elite Conservatory program before moving back to Arkansas to call it “home.”

Sunshine can be found baking award-winning pies, clogging, or most importantly, spending time with her Mini-Aussie named Penny. And yes, her real name is Sunshine.

How do you define success?

Happiness, or the unhurried pursuit… finding joy in the little things and continuing to learn and be a more fulfilled human

How are you living life on your own terms?

I have owned my own business for 15 years. I have slowly learned not to settle and therefore have lived alone, mostly worked alone, and kept the most important things sacred- the people I love



What challenges have you overcome?

So many and yet nothing more than the average human. My challenges -

Parents divorce when I was 11.

Knowing my boundaries as far as work and relationships

Being an only child and both parents having been through many ailments- cancer etc and care giving for both of them.

My father's death in august of 2018

What has caught you by surprise on your journey?

I am actually in control of how I face each day.

I am stronger than I ever thought.

The gift of being there when my father died.

What can you offer to other women wanting to feel more comfortable in their own skin?

More than 90% of what anyone says or does to you has nothing to do with you. If you can understand that everyone walks on with their own baggage.
