In this month’s episode, (which is split into two parts) we will discuss the term exotic and the problem with associating it with people of color, their culture, cultural foods, and cultural clothing. The word exotic means something of foreign origin or character : that is not native but introduced from abroad and is not fully naturalized. This definition is regarding things such as plants and birds. In the first part of this episode, I will be discussing the issue with using this word to describe mainly women of color. In the second part of this episode, I will be having a conversation with a friend of mine about the issue with associating culture with the word exotic. Tune in and enjoy!
