Summary | A Pledge of Good Intentions | 2 Corinthians 12:14-18
Paul is preparing the church for his third visit to Cornith. False Apostles in the church had been working against Paul. They were falsely accusing that Paul wanted money from the church, that his visit would be a burden to them. Paul assured the church that wasn't the case. Paul wanted to invest himself in the church for their spiritual gain, not his personal gain.
What is the purpose of the church? Is it to fill the pews? No. Is it a place to gather where we can all feel good about each other? No. The purpose of the church is to continue the mission God began. Christ came to seek and save the lost. How do we do that?
Is it a question of what the church can do for you? Or what you can do in the church? Who are you investing in for their spiritual benefit? Do we expend ourselves for other people?
