Update: 2025-12-09
Description
U.S. Solar Market Surges in Q3 2025: A Rush to Meet Tax Credit DeadlinesThe U.S. solar market experienced a significant boost in new installations during Q3 2025, with nearly 12 gigawatts added, a 20% increase from the previous year and a 49% surge from Q2. This growth is driven by developers rushing to complete projects and qualify for tax credits before they phase out. The One Big Beautiful Bill Acts deadlines are pushing projects to begin construction by July 4, 2026, or be fully operational by December 31, 2027. Despite a federal permit freeze causing uncertainty, solar and energy storage accounted for 85% of new power added to the grid in the first nine months of the current administration. Interestingly, 73% of solar capacity installed this year is in states that voted for the current president, including Texas, Florida, and Ohio. However, the Solar Energy Industries Association warns of potential uncertainty and higher energy bills if the administrations approach doesnt change.
