Description
Beverly Chester-Burton is a teacher and educator in the Jefferson County Public Schools system. She is the first African American to serve as Mayor of Shively and was the first African American to serve on the Shively City Council. She attended the University of Louisville, Spalding University and Western Kentucky University. She holds a Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision, a Masters in Teaching, a Masters in Counseling and Psychology, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. She has worked in education for more than 20 years (University of Louisville, Northern Kentucky University and Jefferson County Public Schools). She has served as the 44th Legislative District Chair, EMERGE Kentucky, Coalition of Labor Union Women
