Soybean Prices Drop, China's Slow Purchases Blamed
Update: 2025-11-21
Description
Soybean prices took a hit on Thursday, with front month contracts dropping by nine to thirteen and three-quarter cents, and longer-term contracts following suit. This downturn appears to be a response to Chinas slow soybean purchases. Cash prices also fell, settling at ten dollars and forty-nine and a quarter cents. Soy meal and oil futures also decreased. Export numbers showed a three-week high in soybean bookings, but they were still down nearly nine percent compared to the same week last year. Soy meal sales were strong, but soy oil sales saw a net reduction. Chinas recent soybean purchases and adjusted global production forecasts have created a mixed bag for the soybean market.
