New data reveals a significant drop in Spanish investments and trade with Russia since the Ukraine invasion. Spanish exports to Russia plummeted by over sixty-four percent, from €2.2 billion in 2021 to €783 million in 2023. The number of Spanish companies exporting to Russia also decreased by over eighty percent. Despite some Russian imports to Spain increasing, such as LNG, overall bilateral trade continues to decline, with Spanish exports to Russia decreasing by fourteen point three percent and imports falling by fifty-seven point seven percent in August of this year compared to the same period last year.
