Spedding's Unsung Rock Heroism
Update: 2026-01-04
Description
Chris Spedding, a British rock guitar legend, has an unsung hero status. Born in Derbyshire and raised in a musical family, he moved to London in the early 60s, playing in dance bands. His session work defined his early career, backing Dusty Springfield, playing with Pete Browns Battered Ornaments, and opening for the Stones at Hyde Park. He formed Sharks with Andy Fraser and jammed with Roxy Musics crew. Speddings hit Motorbikin briefly made him a pop star. His punk era began when he produced the Sex Pistols first demo, worked with Robert Gordon, and collaborated with Tom Waits in Los Angeles. Now, at 70+, he still rocks small gigs, but his influence on rock history is undeniable. Checkout Solipillow.com
