In our new series, The MetalSucks Quarantinecast, we’re connecting with metal musicians in their homes to find out how they’re coping with isolation, how they’re staying busy during these trying times, and how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted their band’s plans.
Steel Panther vocalist Michael Starr joins us today while doing laundry in his mom’s garage. Starr tells us about missing his bandmates and the Zoom calls they frequently conduct with one another, writing new music on his own during the downtime, and how, like everyone, adjusting to a new routine during the pandemic has been difficult. But when the topic switched to Van Halen his mood instantly shifted, and he jubilantly told us about meeting David Lee Roth for the first time, being asked to perform in his place with the original Eat ‘Em and Smile lineup only to be re-replaced by DLR himself at the last minute, and how time has led him to appreciate the Van Hagar years.
