The Man, The Myth, The Nose: Tony Kanaan
Alex has the flu, but Thim is more than happy to fill in for him, even if James isn't happy about it all (00:01 - 04:44). Living legend, and father of a veritable litter of children, Tony Kanaan made his way to Hinchtown to sit down and chat (04:45 - 05:27). Tony tells James about his experiences doing Ironman races, and just how long he's been in IndyCar; hint, it's a weird feeling to race against former teammates' kids (05:28 - 08:08). TK talks about adjusting to moving from Miami to Indy full time (08:09 - 10:57). James and Tony talk about how TK got into racing in the first place {which is amazing, considering Tony was already a teenager before the automobile was even invented}, and how his father's passing played a huge role in his career (10:58 - 14:00). Tony credits Hinch with curing him of his superstitions (14:01 - 17:36). James asks Tony how he is off the track, in his life as a father, and if he has any plans for more kids {hint: Tony's nipping... er snipping it in the bud} (17:37 - 20:57). Tony talks about his plans, or lack thereof, for retirement, and how he'd like to do it; plus, if he will update the tattoo if he wins the 500 again (20:58 - 27:17). Tony talks about competing in Ironmen racing a bit more (27:18 - 28:46). Tony Kanaan is known through the paddock for being a prank master, so James gets him to open up about his favorites, including an epic one on Dan Wheldon in Japan... it gets a little... interesting (28:47 - 35:47). Tony opens up about how he'll approach things if one of his 48 kids goes into racing, plus what it's like when your kids beat you in a competition (35:48 - 39:16). Tony, how fast have you ever driven off a race track? No matter what, everyone's sure it's slower than literally any Andretti on literally any road... especially Mario (39:17 - 44:20) Outro and Credits (44:21 - 45:30)+++Follow us on Twitter at @askofftrack.Follow Tony Kanaan on twitter. To buy a #GetWellWickens sticker and or shirt, visit Toronto Motorsports, all proceeds go to Sam Schmidt's Conquer Paralysis Now Foundation.+++The music you heard in this episode comes from:Ryan Dann of Holland Patent Public Library. 24. The Pocono Live Show
All of our thoughts and prayers are with Robert Wickens as he recovers (0:00 - 1:30). Brought to you by the dogged CastBox, the guys record a live show at the Pocono Speedway, the night before the race, in what -thanks to PA State Representative Doyle Heffley- is legally "Hinchtown" (01:31 - 5:54). Paul Tracy talks with us about interviewing people on the grid, his Instagram, Captain Quebec, and why he thinks the series needs more rivalries and villains (05:55 - 19:38). Paul talks about his coming up in racing, his days in CART, and his hostile letter from Ashely Judd, plus his motorcycle business and how fast he's ever driven off track (19:39 - 32:29). Battle Royale: Sports commentators, Rossi somehow makes a solid choice terrible, and the live audience chooses the winner (32:30 - 38:08). Outro and Credits (38:09 - 40:09).+++Off Track with Hinch and Rossi is brought to you by CastBox. Download the app today at castbox.fm.Off Track is also brought to you by Dollar Shave Club. 23: Rossi's Luck, Mailbag, and Alonso Watch 2018
Alex and James are live from Hinchtown, for a mailbag episode, where they answer YOUR questions; brought to you be the incontestable CastBox (0:00 - 2:12). Alex had a bit of a week, going to the Colts training camp, where he was even able to ask Andrew Luck a question from the media scrum (02:13 - 05:52). James cues up the clip of Alex and Luck, in which Rossi asks if Uncle Rico inspired Andrew's new mustache, and Luck hits him right back (05:53 - 08:59). Before the mailbag, James asks Alex if he has any experience with hate mail, which he didn't until his on-track interactions with Wickens this season, but Rossi explains why he doesn't think being hated is always necessarily a bad thing, even if it's because of Hinch's ubiquitous Honda ads (09:00 - 13:21). Mailbag: Thim reads questions that we've gotten on twitter and email: questions about Smoke and Alonso, Lucy and Brunner, the guys' race routines, and more (13:22 - 26:17). Before they wrap it up, Hinch and Rossi discuss the Alonso news, and dive into what they would do in his place (26:18 - 33:02). Outro and Credits (33:03 - 34:-32).+++Off Track with Hinch and Rossi is brought to you by CastBox. 21: Freedom, America, and Conor Daly
Turns out our guys have another job outside of podcasting -who knew?- so Hinch couldn't join us this week; brought to you by the unwearied CastBox (0:00 - 0:46). This week they talk to American hero, IndyCar driver, Amazing Racer, and soon-to-be NASCAR driver, Conor Daly (0:47 - 2:09). Conor and Alex talk about coming up in racing together in Europe (2:10 - 6:03). The guys tell some stories about the Amazing Race shenanigans that didn't make it on camera, hotel beer pong anyone? (6:04 - 21:59). Alex and James talk about the Dollar Shave Club (22:00 - 23:02). Conor talks about what he has going on in the future, in terms of IndyCar and NASCAR, plus how Conor manages the physicality of racing with his diabetes (23:03 - 28:26). Conor talks about how he found his way into the EDM scene, and his life in that world (28:27 - 31:05). Conor talks about living with Alex and James, and why James doesn't love it when you put a dining chair on his coffee table (31:06 - 34:48). Battle Royale: Action Movie Stars; Conor can't seem to grasp the nature of the question, and Alex almost steals defeat from the jaws of victory, the clear loser here is Thim (34:49 - 41:20). Outro and Credits (41:21 - 42:56).+++Off Track with Hinch and Rossi is brought to you by CastBox. Download the app today at castbox.fm.Off Track is also brought to you by Dollar Shave Club. 19: The Better Halves Take Over
The boys are back in Hinchtown! Brought to you by the irrefragable CastBox (0:00 - 1:01). This time around, the better halves {Becky Dalton and Kelly Mossop} have decided they're taking over (1:02 - 2:51). The girls interview Hinch and Rossi, asking the stuff everyone wants to know: "Have you googled yourself?" "Do you talk to you exes?" "How'd you get into racing?" "Do you talk to your exes?" "Seriously, do you talk to your exes?" (2:52 - 7:03). More questions: have you ever had a teammate you've found attractive? In their future life, who wouldn't want to come back as a Hunter-Reay? (7:04 - 13:03). The guys talk about their plans after racing, and the Better Halves talk about how they and the other spouses/significant others deal with the anxiety of race days and wrecks {spoiler alert: it's wine} (13:04 - 21:19). Alex and James talk about what they have left to accomplish in racing, and their personal lives, then the guys turn the question around on the girlfriends (21:20 - 36:38). Battle Royale: US Presidents, no one picks Teddy off the bat {because they're insane}; Thim lets his preferences be known too early, so we're leaving the decision to Twitter (36:39 - 43:18). Outro and Credits (43:19 - 44:48).+++Off Track with Hinch and Rossi is brought to you by CastBox. The boys are in Chateau d'Autre Bus, from Iowa! Brought to you by the irrefutable CastBox (0:00 - 2:24). This week, the guys sit down with 2018 Indianapolis 500 Champion, Will Power, leaving Hinch as the only one in the room that hasn't won that race -yet- (2:55 - 14:00). Alex was blown away by Will's ability to do the alphabet backwards in the Penske Games, but Slick Willy P lets our guys in on a little secret about that (14:01 - 16:10).
