A Country on Edge

Since the assassination of Charlie Kirk, something has shifted in the air. It feels like there was a “before” and now there’s an “after.” Tension was already building, but now the unease is thick enough to cut. People are angry. People are tired. And I don’t see things trending in a good direction.

I’m not claiming to be a prophet, but I can read the signs. The economy is shaky, the housing market is insane, and inflation is eating people alive. Wages are up on paper, but the cost of living is through the roof. Folks are malcontent, and when enough people feel boxed in with no way out, sparks fly.

History Doesn’t Repeat, but It Rhymes

Looking back, wars and revolutions rarely had a single clear starting gun in the moment. Only in hindsight do historians point to “the shot heard round the world.” Right now, we might be living through the prelude to something bigger, and we won’t know what the spark was until after the fact.

That’s what worries me most—how close are we to seeing the next escalation? The cultural divide is real, and patience on both sides is wearing thin. The right has been remarkably restrained so far, but people only tolerate being demonized, taxed, and pushed so far before something breaks.

Why This Moment Feels So Dangerous

  • The Economy: Housing is a mess, mortgages are unaffordable, and homeowners are getting squeezed by skyrocketing taxes and insurance.

  • Inflation: A 2% cost-of-living raise doesn’t touch the reality of compounding price hikes. People feel poorer no matter what the numbers say.

  • Division: The left and right are farther apart than ever, and every news cycle pours gasoline on the fire.

  • The Wildcards: Veterans trained in violence, unstable individuals, and outright psychopaths are all part of society. Once political violence becomes normalized, there’s no capping it again.

All of this together is a recipe for escalation.

What You Can Do Right Now

I don’t say this to spread fear—I say it so you can act while there’s still time.

  • Avoid the Hot Zones – Big blue cities are already boiling over. If you live in one, have a plan to get out. Better yet, move if you can.

  • Bug Out Ready – If sparks fly, you don’t want to be trapped in the middle. Have a destination and a plan.

  • Stay Situationally Aware – Head on a swivel. Keep your awareness tuned up.

  • Carry – If you’re legally able, conceal carry consistently. Get your system dialed in so it’s second nature.

  • Travel Smart – If you’ve got trips planned to volatile areas, think twice. Vacations aren’t worth walking into a powder keg.

Closing Thoughts

I don’t know exactly where things are going, but I know it’s not good. The best advice I can give you is simple: be safe. Stay vigilant, keep prepping, and don’t get caught off guard.
