Description

American rock band Switchfoot had early success in the Christian rock scene in the late nighties and early noughties later gaining mainstream recognition. They released their major album The Beautiful Letdown with hits including Meant to Live and Where I Belong exploring faith and philosophy.

But the band has always questioned the 'Christian' musical label once telling Rolling Stone magazine "We're Christian by faith, not genre."

As the son of a pastor- frontman Jon Foreman's expansive lyrics explore the big questions of faith with lines like "We were meant to live for so much more. Have we lost ourselves?" and "I don't belong here. I'm gonna set sight and set sail for the kingdom come."

On this episode of The Profile singer, guitarist and primary songwriter Jon Foreman speaks to Christianity Magazine's Sam Hailes to talk about his early life, faith and what inspires his music.
