Many times, we as Nigerians have been told by fellow Nigerians not to promise morality, uprightness and accountability if we occupy political positions, till we get there and occupy those positions. Many Nigerians believe that no Nigerian can entirely focus on the needs of the people when in positions of power, rather, they believe any person privileged to occupy such positions is solely there for personal interest.

This thought process (due to unending experiences from different administrations in power) is one many Nigerians have, occupying their minds. Many have concluded that because of what we as citizens have suffered for so long in the hands of bad leaders, they desire to be in these positions of power to get their share of the national cake first, sort themselves and their loved ones very well before even thinking of attending to the needs of the people they are meant to lead.

Even people with genuine intentions for the country are hardly trusted or believed because the dominating experience is that people get into power and the need of the people they are to lead becomes secondary to them.

Many citizens have become Self-Centred on their reasons for wanting to occupy these leadership positions or positions of power, and this has brought about the dominant question on this episode of ‘HEY, Let’s Talk; HAS BAD LEADERSHIP MADE US (NIGERIANS) SELF-CENTRED?
