Description

TPG Telecom faces scrutiny after another potential customer death linked to a phone unable to connect to emergency services. The companys CEO revealed this incident at a Senate inquiry, with the individual unable to dial triple zero due to phone incompatibility with the four-G emergency calling network. This marks the second such death linked to TPG, following a similar incident in November. The telecommunications industry remains under intense scrutiny following an Optus outage in September that left hundreds unable to reach emergency services. TPG claims to have informed regulators about the four-G problem before the national three-G network shutdown, with around eighteen thousand customers still having phones that cannot access emergency services. Samsung has identified eleven phone models needing replacement and another sixty requiring a software update to address the three-G network issue.
