How do you typically respond to the brokenness and evil that seems to be ubiquitous in our world? How has that brokenness personally impacted you or the ones you love? How does it impact your relationship with Jesus?

Each of the situations in this section were “hopeless” from a human perspective, yet Jesus brought healing and restoration to each one. Do you have any examples from your own life when God worked despite the “hopelessness” of your situation?

It is truly wonderful when we see Jesus work in powerful ways, yet that is often not the case in our lives when we bring our difficulties and challenges to the Lord in prayer. Often it seems like nothing changes. If Jesus is compassionate (and he is) and if he is the same yesterday, today and forever (and he is) how do we explain (and get through) those times when we don’t experience the miraculous outcome we were hoping and praying for?
