Description

Robin Philpot appears on the Taylor Report to discuss the comments by Yves-François Blanchet, leader of the Bloc Québécois, that the Trudeau government was wrong to arrest Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou at the bidding of the Trump Administration.

"When you’re facing a powerful foe like China," argued Blanchet, "you don’t try to show biceps if you have only tiny biceps.”

Blanchet repeated the point at both the English and French Leaders' Debates and elsewhere. But the media seems to have completely ignored the remark. Blanchet deliberately made the remark because of how Canadian farmers, and especially farmers in Quebec, were affected.

The Bloc is leading in Quebec ridings among Francophone voters because Blanchet's remarks have resonated with them.
