their maybe an antitrust or anticompetitiveness case to make about data collection, but if all consumer data collection is realistically going to be used for is serving more targeted ads and making more targeted products and services then I really don't care. For a long time our captalisr culture has put our intimate details into the hands of the corporate elite, but you don't hear people complaining about insurance companies, the credit scoring companies, or American Express and the like. I don't care if some nerd has my info along with billions of others and could theoretically take the time to see what type of videos Im watching online. And of course theyre are new risks that we're vulnerable to. new kinds of crimes any tech or societal development allows for new criminal avenues. but hey let's just put a halt on all progress and then we can just live among the old threats that still victimize the less lucky of us but hey at least their familiar. the comentariat class in the tech space spend so much time fretting over potential data consiparicies and meanwhile miss alot of the incredible innovation that's bieng made.
