The Cleveland Browns o-line sucked, Deshaun Watson wasn't good enough & the Cowboys dominated Week 1
Update: 2024-09-09
Description
It wasn't worth the wait.
The Cleveland Browns got boatraced in the season opener by the Dallas Cowboys, 33-17.
Deshaun Watson looked rusty, the offensive line played way below their standard, and the entire summer of promise quickly turned to disgust on Sunday.
The boo birds came out in the second quarter of the game and the fans were 100% justified based on the Browns performance.
Iron Chef Michael Symon also joins the show, and Bernie Kosar does too to break down the loss.
The day started out with so much promise for the Browns, who lost 33-17 to the Cowboys in the opener Sunday amid an ugly return for Deshaun Watson, who was sacked six times and picked off twice.
By the end of the game, he was shaken up hard on one of the Cowboys’ many hits and then strip-sacked at the two-minute warning to add insult to injury.
Before the game, Browns defensive end Myles Garrett visited the Muni Lot to fire up the fans, leading a robust chorus of “Here we go Brownies, here we go!” Once inside the newly christened Huntington Bank Field, Cleveland’s own Machine Gun Kelly pumped up the crowd with a thunderous guitar riff, and a majestic flyover dazzled fans.
Tom Brady was in the house calling his first-ever game for Fox Sports in the nationally televised game of the week, and the Browns were ready to unveil their overhauled offense.
Premier defensive ends Micah Parsons of the Cowboys and Garrett were ready to “duke it out” for bragging rights over the best edge rusher in the land.
Dak Prescott had just signed his blockbuster extension five hours before the game — making him the highest paid player in the NFL at $60 million a year.
Watson, coming off surgery to repair his fractured shoulder, was eager to show the world that he’s still elite and prove his critics wrong.
The Browns, picked by most national experts to miss the playoffs, stated their mission to win a Super Bowl and shock the world.
