The Good News About Jesus - Stories of the First & the Last
Description
In Mark chapter 10, Jesus meets a wide range of 1st century Jewish individuals. He is challenged by the Pharisees about the Law, he blesses little children, he converses with a rich man and his disciples and heals a blind man. All in a good day’s work.
What is compelling is Jesus’ consistent call to follow him. For much of life, we ask the question ‘What is in this for me?” Jesus answers with several deep theological comments in Mark 10. ‘Well actually, to follow me, you must give up everything that you have: home, family & profession. The first will be last. Your faith in me must become like the children.” These are hard words. Who could actually do all that?
Peter says the disciples gave up everything to follow Jesus, and indeed they did. They gave their lives away, every step of the way. Come join us this Sunday as we wrestle with Christ’s words and seek to follow in his footsteps.
