The Invisible Virus That’s Hurting CA Students
Description
Dear CA students,
There’s a big, invisible virus affecting many of us today. It’s not a medical one — it’s far more subtle, and yet it is hurting our results, our focus, and our confidence.
This virus is excessive screen time.
Most of us don’t even realise how deeply we’re trapped in it. If you ever sit down and honestly track your day — hour by hour — you’ll see that almost your entire awake time is spent in front of a screen.
Not because you want to…But because it has become your default mode.
We sit to study, and within minutes we slip into entertainment: YouTube, Netflix, Hot Star, Instagram reels, random scrolling, or downloaded shows. Then we try to come back to work… and again go back to entertainment… and then again to work…
This continuous switching destroys our momentum.
Your mind never gets rest. You don’t get into deep work. And without deep work, studying feels slow and heavy — which then pushes you even more towards distractions.
The cycle continues.
And if you think this is happening only to you — please know, it’s happening to all of us. Even I struggle with it. Anyone who works with screens struggles with it.
So what’s the way out?
1. Decide Your Screen Time Before the Screen Decides for You
Fix a clear “entertainment window” every day.For example: 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm — that’s it.
If you leave it open-ended, your mind will hypnotise you into endless scrolling without even realising how time flies.
2. Create Intentional Off-Screen Time
Bring back the forgotten offline activities:
* Take walks
* Get bored deliberately
* Read physical books
* Talk to people
* Sit quietly with your thoughts
The more you pull yourself away from the screen, the stronger your focus becomes.
3. Choose Your Content Wisely
It’s ironic — you’re reading this on a screen.But that’s how the world works today.
Good things also come from screens,and bad things come from screens.
You must choose which one you allow in.
That’s why I prefer audio for this message — you press play once, keep your phone aside, and let the thoughts sink in passively, without being pulled into endless recommendations.
