In this episode we chat to Stunt woman and Actress, Marlee Barber. Marlee grew up on a farm just out of Walla Walla - and now lives a busy life based in Sydney doing all those amazing action scenes in movies and TV shows. You have probably seen a movie or a TV show starring Marlee but wouldn’t have realised it was her. For instance, she recently doubled for Hillary Swank in a Netflix movie!
So how does one find themselves in such a unique and extraordinary career? Well, Marlee is naturally very athletic. She grew up playing tennis, little athletics, hockey and then fell in love with gymnastics – which lead the family to move to Albury when Marlee was in Grade 4 to pursue her training. Once in Albury, Marlee took up diving – and when she was in Year 9, Marlee and her mother moved to Sydney in order to access elite diving coaches, facilities and all year round training. Marlee's first stunt job was to jump off a 13-metre bridge into a river at 15 years old – which she absolutely loved, and realised that she could pursue a career in the field. She hasn't looked back. It's an extraordinary career and a fascinating journey!
