The president's defenders keep backing up and backing up and backing up on the rightness or wrongness of Trump's actions, after the so-called "perfect call." How far can they keep backing up? Till it's ok for the president to do what he wants as long as it's even PARTIALLY in the "public interest?" Even the "partiality" of his intent in terms of "public scrutiny" would never be clear.

SAYING you that you WERE or ARE acting in the public interest is not the same thing as actually DOING IT for the public interest. On Trump's case"public interest" is a highly ambiguous thing.
