Description
On a freezing New Year's Eve, a poor little girl is forced to sell matches in the street. Cold, hungry, and afraid to go home, she lights the matches for warmth, and each flame brings a vision of comfort and happiness: a warm stove, a Christmas feast, a beautiful tree, and finally, her beloved deceased grandmother. Desperate to hold onto the vision of her grandmother, she lights all the remaining matches until she dies from the cold, still smiling from the warmth and happiness of the vision. In the morning, passers-by find her frozen body, unaware of the beautiful visions she experienced in her final moments.
