Description

Neuroscientist Doug Fields was on a trip to Europe when a pickpocket stole his wallet. Doug, normally mild-mannered, became enraged — and his fury turned him into a stranger to himself. Today on Hidden Brain, we explore the secret logic of irrational anger.

A comment about road rage: In your example about the traffic causing rage, I wanted to point out that it's not logical to merge until you lose your lane. People merge too early leaving space for others to race ahead and jump the line. If everyone just adjusts their speed and waits until their lane actually merges, there won't be an opportunity to cut the line.
