Do you know the greatest female athlete of all time is? Sure, the Super Bowl was last night which is cool and all, but that makes paying homage to the greats that much more important.

Did you know that only as recently as 1900 women were allowed to participate in the Olympics? Compare that to the centuries of men allowed to participate in this tradition, and you get the idea. Oh, and women's gymnastics debuted at the 1928 Olympics. Ridiculous.
 
So the muse we’re investigating today is all of the above: she’s a rebel, a superstar, an accomplished athlete. She totally defied the status quo at a time when women were expected to maintain a singular role in their lifetimes, and she made such an impact in the world of sports that she’s revered to this day, her memory solidified in publications and history books indefinitely.
